Hi,
I happened to come across your report online, and I started crying, because cancer is big in my family. I was diagnoised at an early age with HPV which can cause cervical cancer, and about 4 years later I was strickin with cancer stage 2. I went through chemo, and radiation. I also was going through this with a newborn. So needless to say it was hard, im now in remission and have been for 1.5 years. I just want your daughter to know. PRAY!!! I prayed every day all day. Prayed for strength, hope, courage and support. I gave my troubles to the lord, and in the meantime I didnt take and still dont take my life for granted. I live each day to the fullest, and am thankful I have another day to shine. My heart pours out to you daughter. I know its really hard, and I know how she feels in some ways. I havent had any story catch my heart like she has. I pray for a blessing and I pray for a miracle!!!! I will pray each and every day for Katie and your who family, and anyone that can help!!!
XOXOXOXOXOXO,
Kayle F!
Katie you are in our thoughts and prayers always!
Love,
The Lunds
Hello Katie,
I just heard about your story and was touched by your smile and the enormous amount of love everyone has for you.
Though I never have thought about bone marrow registry until reading your story today, I would like to share a story with you about the need to spread the word about that I would like to share a story.
The thought of donating blood never crossed my mind until one day I found myself needing a blood transfusion. I was shocked to say the least, and thought who would donate blood for me?
Complete strangers who like myself, never thought about donating blood. I too was so grateful to the many many strangers who offered to donate on my behalf.
Though I can not personally register on the bone marrow donation because of my illness in the past,I can and will send your website link to all my personal contacts, workers, charity sponsors, etc..and ask they register, and pass on your website link to their contacts and so forth…and thus create a piece of mind in the end, that one day everyone will be a match for someone. My very best wishes to you Katie
Dear Katie:
I pray for you and for a speedy recovery. My God shine upon you and your family so that you may find the perfect match. You are a truly beautiful young lady and keep your chin up! God bless you dear……
Katie and Family – My own daughter was adopted from the Shaanxi province. I can’t imagine how frustrating it has to be to seek out something which seems so far fetched. Know that it has been successfully done before. If you haven’t seen, you should check out the story of Kailee Wells, a beautiful little girl whose mom scoured China for a bone marrow match. One was FOUND! Remarkably inspiring story. kaileegetwells.com
All the best to you and your family, we will be thinking of you!
Dear Katie.
I just read about your story on CNN and wanted to encourage you. My husband was also diagnosed with AML in 2007 and was at the time given only a 40% chance of survival. Instead of waiting around after two rounds of chemo to stave off leukemia, we decided to bring out the big guns and underwent an unrelated donor’s stem cell transplantation six months after the initial diagnosis. It’s been now three years since and he’s living life to the fullest. My husband’s also Asian American and when his two siblings weren’t matches, we had to look elsewhere. Thankfully, and providentially, we were able to find a donor from a young Korean man, a perfect stranger. I remember how many people told us just how difficult it is to find a donor match; one nurse described it as finding a needle in a haystack. But you know, we don’t have to look for that needle ourselves. God will. And he will flip all this around so that all will know just how great our God is.
Keep believing in how awesome the Lord is. And trust.
I will keep you in my prayers, Katie~
I saw your story on the cnn.com website. I just wanted you to know that I am praying for you and your family at this difficult time.
My brother-in-law, from Wisconsin, is battling the same leukemia. He is 37 years old and was diagnosed last May. He has completed a bone marrow cell transplant and was in remission for about 5 months. He is now on a chemo treatment that is keeping the leukemia at bay…..it seems that this chemo treatment is working for the time being. Good luck with your fight and stay strong!!
Melissa
This is Katie’s mom. Thanks for your comment on Katie’s blog. I’m sorry to hear about your b-i-l having AML. I know several children who have had multiple bone marrow/stem cell transplants when they fell out of remission. Is this not a possibility for him?
Dear Cramer family,
I just happened to read your story, as reported by AP, online. I live in a city with a very large immigrant Chinese population — Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. Can you get word out to the media up here? Perhaps there are people here of Katie’s ethnic group. The two daily newspapers here are the Vancouver Sun and the Vancouver Province.
All the best to you and Katie.
I just read your story on foxnews.com. Your story just really touched my heart. My wife and I are also Christians and served in China for over 10 years. We now are missionaries in Thailand. We both are native Virginians. And we also have an adopted Chinese daughter from Yunnan Province. She is now 10 years old. Her name is Abigail Catherine.
We will be praying for you and Katie. I’m am thankful we serve a powerful miracle working God.
Blessings!
Dennis
I have read your story, and it truly touched my heart…I’m wishing you so much luck in finding that 10/10 match. I’m not of asian decent so I don’t know if I can donate or be tested, but if I were I’d be knocking on the door so quickly.
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family during this time.
God bless.
Im sorry that you and your family have to go through this. I am a registered donor and i am passing your story around hopefully you will find a perfect match. May God Bless you..
Dear Katie and family,
I am from the Netherlands and my wife is from Lithuania. We are devout Christians. We were reading your story on the internet. Although it is practically impossible to offer ourselves for donor testing, we pray to the lord that he will make all alright.
We cannot even begin to imagine the difficult times everyone is going through. We just want to say that you are in our prayers and from the bottom of our hearts we hope you make a speedy and full recovery.
Eric and Kristina
Please know that many of us out here are praying for you, Katie. I am a nurse who collects stem cells for NMDP as well as autologous donors for their own transplants, so understand how vital it is for a match to be found. 2 weeks ago I went to Europe to bring back cells for a patient in the USA. We would love to find a match for you anywhere in the world! Hang in there.
Shari
Hello. I read the artice on the Sacramento Bees website. My heart thoughts and prayers go out to you Katie and youre family. I hope you find a donor soon. I admire youre strength for going through what you are going through at such a young age. Keep strong.
I would not hesitate to donate myself. I dont know you but that does not matter. If i were a 10/10 match i wouldnt think twice about it, and i would hope somebody would do the same for me.
I grew up in the Sacramento area. I am 27 now and enlisted in the US Navy. Im stationed in Southern California.
Best wishes……..

Good morning from the East Coast. I read your story on MSNBC.com and was very moved. I am father to my own 5 year old adopted spicy little Hunan girl Olivia Kai. We adopted 4 years ago and I cannot imagine what something like this does to a parent. Stay strong and give Katie a hug for me. You are in my prayers and I hope Katie finds her much needed donor. You have probably already thought of this, but have you tried contacting the adoption agencies that help with Chinese adoptions? They may be able to help spread the word to adoptive families with children old enough to donate. We dealt with China Adoption With Love Inc.(cawli.org). Keep up the good fight and be at peace.
Regards,
John
I hope that your story is spread far and wide so that others will see that they may save a life. Katie, you are a beautiful young woman and so obviously loved! Strength to you and your family.
Hello Katie and Family,
I just read your story on msnbc and would like to send you luck and support! I hope and pray that you find a donor very soon so you can continue to enjoy your life. Keep smiling!
~Vanessa
Hi katie,
I just wanted to tell you how brave you are! Most children wouldn’t be taking like you are, most adults wouldn’t even take it as well as you are. I hope you get better soon!
Good luck finding a donor and God bless.
Sarah
I just read your story online It tugged at my heart.
You are all in my heart and prayers, be strong Katie you are a fighter with alot of love surrounding you. A note from up here a small town in Ontario, Canada I will hug my kids a little harder and love my kids a little stronger ofr all mothers going through a tough time
With love Barb xo
Just read your story on MSN news. I have an 8 yr old adopted from Hubei Province. What started as a leap of faith continues as a leap of faith. With God, all things are possible. Remember, faith as small as a mustard seed….. . My first thought was how old must one be to be tested as a potential donor, thinking of my child? After reviewing info, I see that it is listed as 18, with no info of exceptions. Then, I cried… .
Feeling helpless, I’ve reminded myself of the power of prayer & it is there I keep you all….
Your story is getting out and I will pray for a match to be found. As a mother, my heart goes out to you. As a mother of adopted children, my hand reaches for you. I have linked to your site on facebook. Best of luck!
Greetings from Canada!
I read your story online and I am very touched by your persaverence. Nothing is stronger than a mothers love for her child. I am praying for Katie, and the rest of your family. God bless, may he keep you ALL well and may Katie come home soon, healthy!

Just wanted to add my well-wishes and support. My little niece was adopted from China seven years ago,I cannot imagine something happening to her. This just breaks my heart for you all. I am hoping and praying a donor is found soon for Katie. Keep each other strong!
All my best,

I read your story on CNN, and I want you to know that I am also praying for you, Katie, and your parents. I am praying that you have a long, happy, healthy life.
Hi Mrs. Cramer
Don’t normal browse the web during business hours but, I was searching msnbc.com for the UFO sighting over China my co-worker was talking about and I saw “Mom searches China for donor to save her daughter’s life” and thought, “a must read” (Mother’s First). I read the post, and then clicked on “The Katie Cramer Donor Drive” read the bio on your family, watched Katie’s pictures with friends and family, read comments, etc., my heart-filled with combinations of sadness and happiness, then faith and joy for your family that you were chosen as parents for Katie. A MOTHER’S LOVE is never-ending and has no boundaries…I ADMIRE your courage, faith, and determination for your daughter. You are an INCREDIABLE WOMEN and MOTHER. You are deserving of Katie and so is she too you and your family. Thank you so kindly, for measures a MOTHER would take to go BEYOND and ABOVE for their child. I pray for Katie’s health, your faith, energy, and strength of will. Your love and faith have not gone unnoticed by God.
I have never donated blood before and I go happily with Katie as my inspiration. I will continue to check in on your post and pray for a joyous outcome for your family.
Jin, Jas and Shi
STAY STRONG.

Dear Mrs. Cramer and Katie,
I live in rural south Georgia and have just read your amazing article about Katie. Remember, Matt. 21:22 states “And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.” I have been so touched by your faith, but mostly I have been touched by the love for your daughter. Just as Christ has loved and went to the cross for us, you have gone for Katie. She is one very blessed, very loved young lady. I will be praying for Katie and your family. I have been thinking of my mother whom I lost 2 years ago yesterday, and how much she loved me, your love and devotion to your daughter has brought a smille to me even in my sadness. May God bless and keep you in all that you do.
Dear Katie,
You are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love, Robin
I just read about Mrs. Cramers trip to China which is the first I have heard of your situation. I barely made it through the article because I was so choked up.
I’m sorry you and your family are going through all this – my heart goes out to you all. I hope and pray for your healing. I also pray that you press up close to God during these times and that your journey be fruitful.
Hugs,
Paula

Dear Katie,
I just read about your story on MSN about your mother traveling to China in search of a bone marrow match for you. You have a terrific family by your side and wonderful doctors. I just wanted to encourage you to stay strong and always think positive.
After hearing about your story, I have posted this website on my Facebook account to encourage all Asian decent to go and get tested to find a 10/10 match for you and other patients in your position. Good luck Katie & stay strong!!!

Dear Cramer Family,
We have two adopted children from China. I cannot get Katie off of my mind. What a brave beautiful girl you have!
My thoughts and prayers are with you all. I have two boys staying with me right now here in the DC area (exchange students)who are from Chongqing, China. I would love to tell them about Katie and provide them with flyers in Chinese to take back to China with them very soon so that they can spread the word. Maybe a match would be found. I saw a picture on a website of Mrs. Cramer holding a flyer written in Chinese with Katie’s picture on it. If I could get a copy of that flyer, I know the boys would be happy to help you in some way. They are with a class of 40 other students here along with adults and chaperones too. If everyone carried flyers back with them…what a miracle that would be to find a match. Send me the flyer that she was holding in the picture please!
Thinking and praying for Katie!
Madeline
Our 10-year-old daughter is also from Guangxi, and we would be willing for her to be tested if you can’t find a match. Our prayers are with you!
Dear Cramer Family,
I read your story on the internet. I was touched personally by your story as my father was diagnosed with mantle cell leukemia, an extremely rare version.
My heart and prayers go out to all of you. To Michael and Sherrie, for continued strength and perseverence. Keep searching! I know some of the feelings you are experiencing each and every day. Keep yourself strong for Katie.
To Katie, your are an incredible young woman. Keep the faith. You are so strong and very much loved.
I will reach out to everyone I know in the community here in Delaware and the local area to spread the word for a donor.
God Bless you all.
Sheri
I just heard about this through a facebook friend. I don’t know if you remember me but we were involved in a playgroup with you and Katie and Jean Vedenoff when the kids were little. I knew you from Arcade and 6 years ago we went to China and adopted our youngest, which makes 5 kids for us. We’re living in Pensacola,FL now. Anyway, you are in my prayers and am having friends at my church pray too. – Sandy Riddell
Katie and Family….
Keep on keeping on as you wait on the Lord to work for your match! As the mother of two girls from Hunan, China, I am following your blog with great anticipation to see what He is going to do in your life! Know we are praying and spreading the word of your need worldwide!

We are praying without ceasing for Katie, her family, friends, and physicians. Our daughter is from Nanning also. She wants to be tested but we still lack some info needed. We have followed the link on Caring Bridge, and I have spoken to lots of people from the marrow centers to Kashi lab, to Lucile Packard Hospital. They said they will try to get in touch with you to get this info because they said it is necessary to have it accompany the donor sample. I have left a message on this site for you but have not received a reply. We want desperately to help but we need physician contact info, etc. I have a test kit on the way from Lab Corp–they are cheaper. They overnight them for free–but we still need info not found on Caring Bridge. I am posting this because I thought maybe the other messages might not be read as quickly. I know you are overwhelmed, but we can’t submit our test kit until we get this info. Please forgive me if the situation has changed and this is no longer timely. Our daughter’s story is almost identical to Katie’s and you are always on our minds and in our prayers.
Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you…”
Shirley
Katie,
Last night I dropped off my unrelated donor and his family at the airport after spending three fantastic weeks together. His twelve yr old daughter is staying an extra week with me in Florida. I will fly back with her to Germany for a two week stay. In 2004, I was given less than a 10% chance of surviving a BMT but with God’s help I was matched with a 10/10 donor. It never occurred to me that my donor might come from another country. We’ve assisted with several public service announcements in Germany to spread the word about joining the donor registry (DKMS).
Please, keep up your good spirits and faith. I am praying your match is found as soon as possible. It’s your turn for a miracle and they do happen!
Much Love,
Leslie
Dear Katie,
You’re my hero-
I truly admire your strength and courage. You are so beautiful inside and out! Keep fighting…everyone is praying for your happiness and well-being. Your smile just brightened my day!

Hi Katie and family,
I was looking for information about leukemia and your article came up. My son was diagnosed with leukemia in 08 and still going through treatments. We will keep you and your family in our prayers.
God does work in miracle way.
Katie,
I know you may know a lot of other people named Katie, because I do (and are one), but you are by far the most special, wonderful one there is. God will make sure you heal. SOMETHING will work. You’ve been what made me start praying again, hoping you’d be ok. You WILL get better. Someone as beautiful and talented and strong and brave as you has to recover. Keep holding on. There HAS to be a match somewhere, and you’ll find them, and they’ll help. Just keep fighting!
Katie’s family,
You are so wonderful. Katie will get better I know it. God wouldn’t have let her get sick with something like this unless He knew she’d rise to the occaision and recover. God will help you.
Love,
Katie Shute

Just to let you know that I saw your note on Dominic’s CarePage. 1st of all, thank YOU so much for your support of our boy. And please know that Katie’s story has touched my heart – I know pretty much exactly what you must be feeling right now. I also know that there’s nothing I can physically do, but immediately pray, ask my family & friends to pray, and let you know that if you do find you have questions I might be able to answer, or if you just need a sounding board, please let me know. Immediate prayers for 100% engrafting!!! And I do mean immediate!
In Jesus’ Holy Name…

Hi Katie,
I just want you to know that Sandi and I are praying for you. We don’t have all the answers as to why God allows us to go through what you and your family have endured over the past several years. That is why God is God. We have to have our eyes turned to Him in all our circumstances in life. I have not even met you, but know your father Michael. He is a wonderful man and blessed that he can call you His daughter. I pray that God would deliver you from your cancer and heal your body from cancer. I pray for your mom and dad and siblings that God would give them the strength to endure this battle. We love you and think of you often. May God Bless you and your family.
Hi, Katie,
We are praying for you along with our Sunday School class at the First Evangelical Free Church of Sacramento. We are the grandparents of Julianne, Melanie, and Allisen Welch and we are looking forward to the day when you are completely healed.
Blessings to you and your family,

I have been following your story since I first heard about Katie on MSNBC. I am a pediatric oncology RN in Florida so naturally Katies story touched close to home. I have known many families who have been where you are now and my heart is with you all right now. Please know my thoughts and prayers are with Katie and your family right now.
I am praying for your whole family that you find peace.
Katie,
Know that your family at Arcade Church think of you often and offer up prayers for you continually.
Love,
Your sister in Christ,

I heard about Katie through a message on facebook and then found your web page. Your story has really touched me. I admire your families strength. It seems everyone is fighting this as best as they can. I will be checking in over the next 5 weeks…praying that a match will be found. You all have amazing strength. My prayers will include your family and especially Katie.
I’ve been following your story since summer. All of you have been on an amazing journey. Your faith is very inspiring. As we never know what God’s plan is for any of us your faith, love and hope have surely served you well during this difficult time. I will continue to pray for a miracle for you, Katie. I have been praying that God touch you with His healing hands so that you may be an example of miracles that only He can give us. I will also continue to pray for strength and peace for all of you during this time.
just in five days on a cruise, were enough to know that you are a very special person with a big heart. you will be in my prayers.
When I read the title of your last entry, I wanted to share a song with you. When my mother was in hospice care in the spring, I listened to “Hope is Rising” by Downhere, over and over again. I am also reminded of what one of her nurses said to me when I used your exact words…hope is fading. She told me there is always hope, but what you are hoping for changes. You now hope for peace, for less pain, for comfort. Obviously, you don’t know me and I can’t remember how I found your blog. I check for updates, though, on Katie every day and pray for her often. My hope for you is that you find comfort and love in yout families and in God at this difficult time.

You are all in our hearts and prayers. So glad you are all home together during this time. xo
Dear Katie,
Here’s my favorite Mr. T. story about you:
It was the last week of school some years ago. I was teaching my 4th grade class, and I heard the sounds of excited 6th graders getting ready for their 6th grade promotion. The boys and girls were in their best grown-up clothes. As I looked out the window, one girl especially caught my eye. She was a beautiful young Asian woman in a elegant black dress. I had no idea who it was, but then she turned and smiled at her friends. I thought to myself, “My God! That’s Katie Cramer!” I was stunned how beautiful you had become in just two short years from when I was your 4th grade teacher.
Of course, real beauty is an inside job, and you have proven that many times over in recent years. I just wanted you to know how much I’ve admired your bravery and courage. To me, you will always walk in beauty.
Sincerely,
Mr. Tisnado
Dear Family, wish we could just sit by you and be with your pain of katie’s home going. We will continue to keep you in our prayers. No words to express our selves to you, we love you as our church family. We are so sorry.with love, hope D & D
Dear Cramer Family,
I am so sorry to read of Katie’s passing on the ‘Liuzhou Laowai’ blog. We too have a daughter from Liuzhou and will be praying for you.
What deep faith and courage Katie demonstrated and her family as well.
We didn’t get to meet her but all of the stories from friends and El Camino students attest to her deep faith in God. God has a very special place in Heaven for those He calls home so early. What a joy it is to know that the scriptures tell us that we all will be together when we all meet with Jesus.

We live on the East Coast and have never met Katie or your family. However, we share a common bond-we both have beautiful daughters from Quangxi, China. My little Melanie was born there in 2006. My older daughter Emily is from Hubei. I have followed your story for only a few months and each time have been inspired by your family’s faith, love and hope. Please know that your family is surrounded by the love and support of so many people everywhere during this diffult time. Our prayers will continue to be with you during the months ahead. Katie and your entire family have reminded many of us what true faith means. Thank you for being such a source of strength and inspiration to so many of us. May God bless and keep all of you in his loving care. Hugs, Karen, Emily and Melanie
